PM Modi’s gifts to Laos leaders: Vintage brass Buddha, carved wooden box

During his two-day visit to Laos for the ASEAN-India and East Asia Summit in Vientiane, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented exquisite gifts to the President and Prime Minister of Laos, along with their spouses.
Vintage brass Buddha statue with Meenakari work for Laos President
Prime Minister Modi gifted the President of Laos a vintage brass Buddha statue, adorned with intricate meenakari (enamel) work. Crafted by skilled artisans from Tamil Nadu, this statue showcases South Indian craftsmanship and Buddhist philosophy. Made from durable brass, the statue reflects the region’s artistry, while the meenakari work adds vibrant colors and intricate designs. Buddha statues hold deep spiritual significance, symbolising enlightenment, compassion, and wisdom.
Additionally, the Prime Minister presented a beautifully carved wooden box to the President’s wife.
Kadamwood embossed Buddha head for Laos Prime Minister
To the Prime Minister of Laos, PM Modi gifted a Kadamwood Buddha head, exquisitely embossed with intricate details. Known for its rich texture and durability, the Kadamwood sculpture symbolizes serenity and enlightenment. The Buddha head is further adorned with lotus and elephant engravings, both of which carry deep symbolic meaning in various cultures.
Malachite and camel bone box with Radha-Krishna theme for Laos PM’s wife
For the spouse of the Laos Prime Minister, Modi gifted a stunning malachite and camel bone box, featuring a Radha-Krishna theme. This piece not only serves as a functional box but also as a celebration of the divine love between Radha and Krishna, central figures in Hindu mythology. The craftsmanship highlights the beauty and artistry of Indian heritage, making it a timeless treasure.
In addition, PM Modi also presented the Prime Minister of Thailand with a wooden table from Ladakh, decorated with intricate pot carvings, further showcasing India’s diverse cultural artistry.
